The art of life.- Art Nouveau Posters and Material Culture in Hungary

The exhibition presents the first golden age of Hungarian poster art, which unfolded at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the spirit of the Art Nouveau style. As part of the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks, the exhibition will showcase masterpieces of Art Nouveau poster art and advertising graphics, as well as the art nouveau artifacts of the period, including books, magazines, applied art, ceramics and furniture, with more than 200 works of art.

The exhibition includes around 120 posters by artists such as József Rippl-Rónai, János Vaszary and Károly Ferenczy, as well as poster artists such as Géza Faragó, Mihály Biró, Ferenc Helbing and Márton Tuszkay. There is no comprehensive exhibition or book on early Hungarian poster art, despite the fact that it boasts outstanding individual works by international standards.

The exhibition presents the development of poster art and its beginnings in Hungary in an international context, including works by the greatest of the genre, Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Koloman Moser and others.

The exhibition is open until 5 October, tickets are available here
