It's definitely worth a visit, as you can find nice clothes, toys, rare objects and souvenirs for next to nothing. The people of Zugló are so nice and welcoming — you'll see and feel it! Free programmes in Budapest in June: get ready for the family fun
If your children have boundless energy, we have good news: Budapest offers a variety of free activities that will tire them out, at least until the next adventure begins. The best playgrounds on both sides of the river are well worth a visit (check out our previous articles here and here), as is Children's Island on Hajógyári Island from 20 to 22 June — entry is free, of course!
The Summer Kick-Off Weekend at Óbuda Main Square (Óbuda Főter) promises to be great fun for all the family with music events and free programmes. However, if you would prefer to have a picnic, there are several options available, such as the Downtown Picnic (Belvárosi Piknik), the Music Picnic at the Millenáris, and the PikNik Mozi Óbuda. Or you can organize your own family picnic, for example in the City Park or on the Margaret Island, the green heart of the city.
A nice date with someone special or with yourself
Summer in the city means a lot of programmes which makes dating and reunion with friends easier. Why not try the Czech Beer Garden at the Bálna or to visit a new exhibiton, both from 19 June? Or if you are strolling around Dob utca, you can also enjoy free concerts every Thursday, at the Carl Lutz monument (here you'll find the next one).
Dating with yourself is also a very important thing, let's say 'duty' you should regularly do. Budapest offers a plethora of places and occasions to do so, from the most beautiful parks and cafés to amazing free programmes. Did you know for example, that 21 June is the International Day of Yoga? And for the occasion, you can participate at a yoga festival on Margaret Island, or spending the whole day enjoying yoga sessions and some refreshment at a day-long celebration organized by Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Budapest. Take a deep breath, connect with your inner strength, and prepare to experience the love and fun that Budapest has to offer.
