Wizz Air to Launch Daily Direct Flights Between Budapest and Mumbai

Travelers from Hungary and India will soon enjoy direct flights between Budapest and Mumbai, as Wizz Air prepares to launch the new service before the end of 2025. The airline will operate daily flights using its Airbus A321 fleet, significantly improving connectivity between the two nations. This announcement was made by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, following discussions in New Delhi with Indian officials.

The new route is expected to bolster bilateral trade, tourism, academic exchanges, and diplomatic relations between Hungary and India. The introduction of direct flights addresses a longstanding barrier to closer ties, as previously, there were no direct air links between the countries. The minister emphasized that the flights would benefit not only tourists but also businesses, students, and professionals.

In addition to the Budapest-Mumbai route, Hungary is negotiating the introduction of a direct flight to New Delhi, which would further enhance the nations' cooperation. The launch of these services comes as Hungary and India continue to strengthen their economic partnership, with bilateral trade projected to reach $1.5 billion this year. This expansion is fueled by Hungarian companies gaining ground in the Indian market and Indian investments in Hungary’s tech and R&D sectors.
