Two-day Korean Cultural Festival to be held on Margaret Island
The KoreaON cultural festival will be held on Margaret Island, in the Kristály Színtér, on June 27 and 28, where free concerts, dance performances, gastronomic programs and craft workshops await those interested on two stages - the organizers told MTI on Monday.
The announcement said that one of the highlights of the festival will be the performance of the Sweet Sorrow vocal group, which rose to fame from the Yonsei University men's choir, the Glee Club.
The Korean Kkokdugwangdae theater company will also perform at the event. The company's musical and masked performances are also aimed at children, and their stories show the importance of family togetherness. In addition to their main stage performances, they are also preparing for parades, where they will give a joint program with several Hungarian performers. The productions will bring the lively atmosphere of the fairs to the entire area of the event - the information reads.
The audience can see traditional Korean dances performed by the Mugunghwa, Nawoul and Manwol dance formations. The Noremoá Korean-Hungarian choir will perform, and the Mindeulle band will also play the most famous Korean traditional instrument, the kajagüm.
In the exhibition space of the Kristály Színtér, traditional craft stands, beauty advice, family and gastronomic programs, music and dance courses await those interested. Participants can work together with the Munbangsau group, whose members are representatives of ancient Korean calligraphy in Hungary, learn about the cultural heritage of minhwa, or folk painting, and gain insight into the secrets of making jang and kimchi, which can also be tasted.
The event, co-organized by the Korean Cultural Center and the HanYou Foundation, will end with a K-pop party this year as well. The detailed program is available at hanyou.hu - the information sheet states.
