Actor Daniel Brühl Attends FIlm Screening in Budapest

On the evening of 12 March, attendees of the Good Bye, Lenin! screening in Budapest were treated to an unexpected and delightful surprise: the film's lead actor, the incredible Daniel Brühl, made a special appearance - reported the Urania National Film Theatre on it's Facebook page. Brühl, who has been in Budapest for some time filming with renowned director Ruben Östlund, arrived at the Uránia cinema accompanied by several crew members.

Before the screening, Zsófia Buglya, the program director, warmly welcomed Brühl, an announcement that was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. The film itself was received with great appreciation, as viewers relived the story and enjoyed its humor once again.

A particularly memorable moment came when Brühl signed the cinema's "Golden Book," leaving a heartfelt message: "It is a great honor and joy for me to see Good Bye, Lenin! in this esteemed cinematic sanctuary. Thank you! xxx Daniel Brühl." He also shared verbally that he had visited this theater multiple times before while in Budapest. Additionally, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to use this screening as a way to honor the late Wolfgang Becker, the director of Good Bye, Lenin! and a dear friend and collaborator of his.

This screening was the sixth installment in the German film history series celebrating the 70th anniversary of German Films. The series, which runs until the end of March, is organized in collaboration with German Films and the Goethe-Institut Budapest.

Brühl’s presence made the evening even more special, creating an unforgettable experience for cinema lovers in Budapest.
