Enjoy the Sunshine on the Best Terraces in Budapest
Pest side, Buda side or Margaret Island? It's hard to decide, because our capital has so many amazing places to enjoy these beautiful early summer days. Let us help you find the best terraces in Budapest with this short guide.
Best terraces in Budapest: hello City Park!
Green grass, blue sky and beautiful sunshine: the City Park is one of the best places in Budapest where you can enjoy all these. Our favourite spots here are the retro bistro Pántlika and Piknik Kert (yes, they even provide blankets for the perfect picnic atmosphere) but Zöld Küllő, Nyereg and Gundel Kert are also excellent options.
Would you like to walk a little further? Kert Bisztró will make every step worthwhile: you'll love their international menu and impressive cocktail list, not to mention the beautiful garden — a real green oasis just a short distance from the city centre.
In the heart of the city centre
If you prefer to stay in the city centre, the Fröccsterasz and the Gin Corner Bar, which has more than 100 types of gin, should be on your list. But enjoying a few drinks in the heart of the capital isn't the only attraction of Fröccsterasz: you can also enjoy great street food such as their amazing burgers. They also have a strong music programme, including concerts, DJ sets and Latin dance nights. So stick around — you won't regret it!
What about a terrace with a jaw-dropping view? Nestled between the Liberty Bridge, the Elisabeth Bridge, and Gellért Hill, Port de Budapest awaits you with signature cocktails, nice bar food and yes, a view that is definitely worth checking out in person, especially at sunset.
Pest side, Buda side, so hard to decide
While there are many exciting places to visit on the Pest side of the capital, the Buda side also has some real treasures. It's worth exploring these, too. The best places on the Római part include Fellini Kultúrbisztró and Miamor, as well as the nearby Cziniel patisserie, which is perfect for brunch and family programme — you can even get there by bike! We also really like Kobuci, whether there's a concert or not.
It is so hard to choose, right? Even though there are places like Zsiráf, which do have locations at the Pest side and one at the Buda side, as well. The only thing you need to pay attention to is specifying which location you want to visit. Or maybe you prefer not choosing and having a drink almost halfway between Pest and Buda? Good news: Gastro Promenade on the Margaret Island offers some amazing opportunities for that - it is really worth stopping by for a drink and some great street food. All day, every day.
