Enjoy the Summer Vibes: Free Programmes in Budapest in June

May has been a real rainy and chilly month in our capital, but the real summer has finally arrived in its last days. Enjoy the nice weather and take part in as many events as you like! If you're interested in free programmes in Budapest in June, as well as ticketed events, we can show you some great options.

Immerse yourself in flavors

The French Food Festival begins on 29 May at the Fény Utcai Market (Fény Utcai Piac), where you can enjoy the finest wines, champagnes and delicious snacks on Sunday 1 June from 2 pm to 8 pm. Like gastronomy, fine, authentic music is also part of the true French lifestyle, bringing you the feeling of being by the Seine!

If you prefer beer, you can visit the Grand Beer Garden (Grand Sörkert) on Margaret Island between 30 May and 1 June. And for gin fans, we also have something on our list: the V. Gin Festival x Zsiráf Pest has more than 20 gins on offer, as well as good music and a children- and animal-friendly environment, from 5 to 8 June.

Would you like a glass of fine wine or a sip of champagne? Then the Downtown Wine & Champagne Festival, taking place from June 4th to 9th, could be your favorite free program in Budapest in June 2025. Admission to the event is free, but you will need to purchase a festival glass to drink from.

Looking for a Hungarian farmers' market in the city centre? Visit Hunyadi Square after 4 pm on 5 June to immerse yourself in the flavours and enjoy some lovely guitar music provided by Tamás Joós.

Move yourself (or just dance)

If you're looking to try new sports or get more active, why not give it a go at the 2025 Night of Movement (Mozgás Éjszakája)? On 13 June this year, Budapest and 56 other locations across Hungary will be joining this unique city-wide sports festival. It invites people of all ages and fitness levels to start moving, try new activities and experience the joy of exercise in a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Are you ready for a night full of adventure and fun?

To get you warmed up, why not start with some music and dancing? For example, on 1 June, there will be a free sunset DJ set by the well-known Hungarian DJ Metha at Várkert Feszt. Alternatively, you can enjoy the Latin music at the Summer Vibes Salsa-Bachata x Fröccsterasz party on Fridays, with free entry of course. Or, if you prefer Thursdays for the fun, you can grab the microphone at one of the Open Mic Thursdays at the Hoff House.

There's one more unforgettable programme in the city: if you're interested in how Budapest formed to be the city we know today, the Budapest 75 exhibition will be open for free for a whole year from June. Don't miss it!
