130-year-old Gundel Restaurant to Offer Music and Dance Evenings

Gundel has always been more than just a restaurant: in the past, music and dance were an important part of the precious moments spent there, along with the food, of course. Now these traditions are being revived with a series of music and dance evenings where the entry is free of charge, but due to the expected interest, it is strongly recommended to book in advance.

The evenings not only entice participants to dance, but also offer a cultural experience: ballroom etiquette, dance history and even the 130-year-old legends of Gundel. Each evening, dance artist Andrea Keleti will teach the basics of a dance, so beginners will have nothing to fear on the dance floor. Presenter Zsolt Lukács will guide guests through the mysteries of ballroom dancing and dance history, including the evolution of food, costumes and music. The event is aimed primarily at the fun-loving over-30s and over-40s.

The first music and dance evening will take place on 23 April 2025, and will continue on the last Wednesday of each month. The dates are planned for 28.05, 25.06, 30.07, 27.08, 24.09. The venue will be the Gundel Garden in the warmer months and in the cooler months, the restaurant's interior.

Of course, dancing is not compulsory on the evenings, and those who just want to look around are welcome. But it is really worth learning some dance moves and return next year, because Gundel will organise the first Gundel Ball, where those who have practised the dance steps before can step confidently on the dance floor.
